Wild Garden on a Hill
The homeowner wanted us to remove all grass in the front yard and create a sun-loving, low-care garden. The treacherous mowing of the hilly grass is no longer needed, as it is now planted with no-care-needed vinca. The garden abounds in abundant Knock-Out roses, rosemary, many varieties of salvias, and spring wildflowers. In summer, this garden is overrun with coneflowers, “Love in a Mist” (also known as nigella), and more salvias. (The garden is accented with two antique brick pathways we created.) We created this garden in spring 2007, and, believe it or not, it is quite drought tolerant, with the owner watering only a few times every season.
