English Cottage Garden

The owner of this home is a gardener who was inspired by the Cottage Garden at Sissinghurst in England and used that as her inspiration to transform her back yard. While she had the overall design drawn up, she wanted plants that gave the feel of an English garden, while thriving in Texas summers. Artistic Gardenscapes achieved the owner's vision by selecting and installing the trees, shrubs, perennials and herbs that would perform well, require low maintenance and look appropriate for an English garden. Now, the garden has rich textures and colors with an interesting transition of heights, from the low plants that spill over the pathways of the four quadrants to the higher plants and climbing vines that disguise the privacy fence. The garden, which has both sunny and shady areas, has visual interest year-round, and attracts butterflies and hummingbirds.
